Beyond Knife Sharpening
Every weekend · Harvey Norman Maribyrnong

Sharp as the day you bought it.

Sharpened while you wait, Saturday and Sunday, 9am–4pm. Kitchen knives from $8, three for $20. Order your BBQ, hand me the knives, eat — they're done before you are. Text me rather than ring: I'm usually mid-knife, and I answer messages fast.

Leave them with me and you get a numbered ticket — your knives carry the matching tag, so nothing goes back to the wrong person.

Doesn't matter where you live

The stall is the drop-off and the pick-up.

Maribyrnong, Footscray, Yarraville, Braybrook, Sunshine, Ascot Vale, Moonee Ponds, Essendon, Avondale Heights, Keilor — if you can get to the stall, you're covered. I'm selling BBQ there too, so come hungry.

First knife free, done in front of you, so you can judge the edge before you pay for anything.

How the trade service works

Your knives are never out of the kitchen for a service, and you never have to remember to book.

  1. I call in between lunch and dinner. Five minutes, no interruption to service.
  2. I take the dull knives and leave the sharpened ones from the previous visit. First time, they're back the next day.
  3. Sharpening happens at my bench, not on your prep table. Every blade comes back wiped down with food-safe sanitiser, tagged so nothing gets mixed up between kitchens.
  4. Same day, every fortnight. Invoiced per visit. Stop any time — no contract.

Not near the stall?

I'm based in Ringwood, so I also collect and return around the eastern suburbs during the week — handy for cafés and restaurants, or for anyone who can't get to Maribyrnong on a weekend.

Further out is fine for trade visits — call and ask.

Get in touch

Text me how many knives and which suburb, and I'll come straight back with a time. I'm often sharpening and can't answer the phone, so a message is the surest way to reach me.

No booking needed for the weekend stall — just walk up. Saturday & Sunday, 9am–4pm, Harvey Norman Maribyrnong.

What I don't sharpen

Better you know now than after I've ruined something expensive.

Hairdressing shears

Salon shears have a convex edge that belt sharpening destroys. That's a specialist trade — go to someone who does only shears.

Japanese single-bevel knives

Yanagiba, deba, usuba and thin hard-steel gyuto want a whetstone, not a belt. I'd rather send you elsewhere than take the temper out of a good knife.
